2011 emmy predictions - drama
Well, that time is upon us again…the time when watching so many freaking TV shows actually pays off. It’s the Emmys ladies and gentlemen!! Hopefully I won’t do as bad as I did last year. I still don’t watch as many drama shows as I should, but I’m going to do my best.
Best Drama
Think: Mad Men - Honestly, I’m picking it because I didn’t bet on it last year. Though it was a close call between this and Boardwalk Empire. It did win the Golden Globe. But I heard that Mad Men had an even better season this year than it did last…so I would feel stupid not at least betting on it.
Want: Dexter - Was it the best season ever? No. But coming back immediately from the aftermath of Rita dying and killing Trinity, I think they did a great job. They brought it back to the basics and didn’t really have one Big Bad (well, I guess you could argue Jonny Lee Miller’s Jordan Chase, but I’m not going to). I think what made it an interesting season was that they had Dexter find someone in Lumen that could help him move past his grief over Rita and could also accept him and his dark passenger as he was. Also, Deb was the least annoying she’s ever been and they actually made her character make interesting choices.
Best Actress in a Drama
Think: Julianna Margulies - All I ever hear about The Good Wife is how amazing Julianna Margulies is. And the one episode I watched, she was pretty good.
Want: Julianna Margulies - For the same reason I said last year, I don’t watch any of these shows, so I might as well pick her to win here too.
Best Actor in a Drama
Think: Jon Hamm - Again, how can I not bet on Mad Men? And just to throw it out there…he’s super hot and he’s hilarious.
Want: Michael C. Hall - I will always want him to win. He’s just so brilliant. Though, I do love Hugh Laurie too. And I secretly really like Timothy Olyphant and I’m glad he’s doing something that garners him awards and not doing super crappy stuff.
Best Supporting Actress in a Drama
Think: Margo Martindale - It might be a long shot, but I’ve heard she’s awesome on Justified. And I loved her on Dexter. So it might happen.
Want: Margo Martindale - You know what? I was going to pick Christine Baranski just because I love her, but I’m going with Martindale again because she seems like the underdog. And I really did love her on Dexter.
Best Supporting Actor in a Drama
Think: Alan Cumming - I honestly have no idea. But he’s on The Good Wife, and I think the Emmys like The Good Wife. So there we go.
Want: Peter Dinklage - Not only is he amazing in everything he does, but he was amazing on Game of Thrones as Tyrion Lannister. I just love him.
