eddie murphy hosting brett ratner’s oscars?

No.  Just…no.  I get that Eddie Murphy is trying to make a comeback, so this could actually be really good for him.  But he’s making his big comeback in Brett freaking Ratner’s Tower Heist this fall.  Ratner says that he wanted Murphy to host the Oscars after working with him on said movie.  The thing is, Oscar hosts are usually announced later in the year…last year, the hosts were announced in late November.  In my mind, the only reason why they announced Murphy in the beginning of September is to start hyping Tower Heist.

Eddie Murphy is so 10 years ago.  If that.  Besides Dreamgirls, all of his movies in the last 10 years have been family friendly (Shrek, Imagine That) or they’ve been complete turds (Norbit, Meet Dave, The Adventures of Pluto Nash).  And I still hold it against him that he acted like a sore loser at the Oscars the year he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.  He got there acting all cocky and thinking he had it in the bag, and as soon as they didn’t call his name out, he left the ceremony.  What a big baby.  Unless he can bring back the humor that made him famous on Saturday Night Live back in the 1980s, I’m really not looking forward to this Oscars ceremony.
